Once again, our contingent to the Enactus 2016 World Championship in Canada did us proud. Enactus is a global community of students, academics and business leaders. It is committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world. It has been organizing the only annual academic competition that brings students from all Universities and Colleges together to compete.
Some hours ago, the final positions of all nations were declared thusly:
1st - Canada (Winners)
2nd - India (Runners up)
3rd - Germany and Nigeria (Joint 3rd - Finalist
trophy).
On the way to final Kaduna Polytechnic (Nigeria) defeated the defending champions United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA), Netherlands (Holland), Puerto Rico, Brazil, France and Ghana. In all, 59 countries participated. In so doing, Nigeria, as represented by Kaduna Polytechnic, won 3 trophies altogether. One trophy, usually, awarded to all semi finalists. The second, which is awarded to all 4 finalists and the last trophy as the best performing team from each continent. We won that of Africa. Kadpoly had represented Nigeria in South Africa in last year (2015), in Mexico in 2014 and in 2011, France 2008 and Spain in 2006 after winning the Nationals. According to the President and CEO of Enactus, Rachael Jarosh, "The Enactus World Cup showcases the collective power and positive impact of our students around the world.
Students connect on shared insights and business innovation to create a sustainable impact. The hundreds of business executives who come to
this event are inspired by these future leaders as well; it's an excellent opportunity to invest in the future." Our team is due back in Kaduna on Wednesday, 5th October, 2016. The Faculty Adviser of Enactus, Dr. John Aliyu, will be a day earlier for the commencement of the 9th Annual National Conference of CBMS.
